Didn’t make it to The Landmark but had a much better time tea tasting

Yesterday I embarked on my first steps towards actually knowing something about tea. For years I have been boring everyone I know with my ideas for tea and tea based world domination without actually knowing anything about other than I like to drink it.

Off I went to Post Card Teas where I sat down for almost 2 hours with the owner (Timothy d’Offay) who talked me through the basics of four types of tea. I have to say a big thank you to Tim for the fascinating time I had, I highly recommend anyone with more than a passing interest in tea that you pop in and visit Tim and his colleagues.

Post Card teas is a wonderful shop, full of high quality tea and tea related merchandise. Check out the website @ www.postcardteas.com

Over the next few days I will be writing about a few of the different tea types of tea, combining the how they are made with the tasting notes from this weekend.

First good cup of the year… 2010 is going to be tearrific!

A Harrod’s lunch with a spot of tea to finish off..

This shouldn’t really count as a tea session but it was my first formal cup of the year so worth a mention.

Earl Grey at Harrods courtesy of Jay, Hang and Aunty who took me among others out for a lovely lunch to celebrate Elayna’s 2nd Birthday (thank you all so much).

As I am yet to embark on my tea course I’ll keep the critique to a minimum. In fact at this stage I’ll go with good structure, colour and depth but not the best Earl Grey I’ve ever had.

As my knowledge of tea increases hopefully I’ll be able to be a little more informative with my reviews.

Off to The Landmark next week, haven’t been there for a while but it is one of my favourites.
